Family of Three out in the Big City

Another great night. Kai slept for a good 8 hours so mom and dad were well rested. We hung out the whole morning playing, reading Nana's book "I Love You Like Crazy Cakes", and getting lots of kisses. After starting to get cabin fever we decided, even though it was overcast, to venture out to explore Taipei. We put Kai in the snuggly that we borrowed from Aunt Kellie, Uncle Doug, and Brandon, grabbed the umbrellas, diaper bag, a map, and off we went. The hotel has a shuttle bus that takes you to where you can catch the subway. The city reminds us a lot like NY only no honking, cars are very economical (mostly mopeds), no traffic jams, and extremely clean. Kai loved being out and about on his 1st day in the big city. This was his training to go see Uncle Bobby in NYC and he passed with flying colors. We found our way to the shopping area with no problems. The subway system is super easy and everyone is so willing to help you. We stopped first at a coffee shop called "Mr Brown's" that John said was just as good at Starbucks (which is his sweet nectar). Kai got his here too. He loves his bottle! We then went to a watch shop to buy me a Swatch so we wouldn't have to keep asking everyone what time it was. We're too dependent on our cell phones. We decided to stop to eat at a really neat place that that specialized in some kind of meatball looking dish, but made with shrimp and veggies fried in breading and rolled up right in front of you. It was different than anything I've tried....very good. We've pretty much given up on the hamburgers and cokes here. There just not the same. I bet that's what the Taiwanese say about our Chinese food. Ha! Tomorrow's Easter and we're planning on going to church. We found a Baptist one that has a special room for families with little ones. Sounds like fun. Kai will like being around other babies. We'll probably take the subway again and do some more shopping. We heard about a market that sells items that portray more Taiwanese heritage. We really want to bring some back for our home, even though we already got the best souvenir possiblel!
